Our church has been learning about the proposal to have all medical records from Angioplasty results to Individual health insurance records in a national data base for all providers to access. The consensus is that it would be a good thing for a couple reasons. First, it would be excellent to have access to medical information wherever a person would be in the world. Second, it would help for the treatment choices to go along with the past medical history. On the other hand, there are a few reasons this would be questionable in the long run. One, would all of the information be entered correctly or accidentally entered under the wrong name? And two, what if the computer system would crash and there were no paper medical records to fall back on? These are just some of the ideas we have discussed lately and aren't not sure, at this point, what the current administration is planning.
